As I said, when I'm on skype or another such program, apparently any recipients can hear my audio, like whether I'm playing a video or some music, if I don't have the mike muted. However, it won't pick up any audio whatsoever from my microphone. It's always picked up the output before, and I just got this headset today, and I have no idea how to fix it.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled my VIA drivers, and finally got the audio control panel itself to install after I installed an older version and updated, but even then nothing's working. Anybody got any ideas?

Very interesting, what headset is it? It sounds like they wired the audio out to both the mic in and the headphones. Could just be a faulty unit, i would send it back especially if the issues started when you started using the new headset. Alternatively you could purchase a cheap usb microphone and use it instead of the headset.

Someone had just bought a Sades SA-708 for me, and after some looking around I found a lot of people were having the same issues with it, along with some other things like faulty construction. Skype and such has always picked up my audio output before, but this is the first time I've had troubles with that program or my computer not recognising a microphone. It's a bit infuriating, and we've already decided to return this one. I think I'll take your advice and go with a usb headset or mike.
