I have been looking to upgrade my 860k rig which I already have 16gb of DDR3 ram for. My main uses are going to be gaming, general work tasks (College Work), and the occasional streaming to Twitch (Maybe, haven't decided yet...). I have a few options I could go with
1: Intel Xeon E3-1231v3, essentially an Intel Core i7-4770(Locked) with 4 cores and Hyperthreading, a Gigabyte B85 motherboard and a Thermaltake Core V21 case. ($340 total in Upgrades)
2: Intel Core i5-6600k, highly overclockable and great performance, a Z170 Mobo, 16gb of DDR4 Memory, and a Phanteks eclipse P400. ($418 total in upgrades)
Overall, for my tasks which would you suggest? The cheaper Haswell Xeon with great locked performance or Skylake i5 OC'd, offering USB 3.1, USB Type-C, and an M.2 Slot. Or perhaps for my needs an i5-6500 or an i5-4690k and Z97 would suffice!?!? What do you think? All opinions are welcome!
