Can't Install MOBO in Case with I/O Shield

Hi,

I have a Asus B85 progamer mobo and a Fractal Design R5 case. I'm reinstalling my computer into a new case (the R5). With the previous case, I had no issue inserting the IO shield in the usual way, from the inside, and proceeding as normal from there.

Now when I insert the IO shield, the mobo screw holes are completely unable to align with the mounts inside the case. Without the shield inserted, it's fine. The IO shield is quite thick - it's padded with foam, and no amount of pressure compresses it enough to allow the mobo to align, and I've tried forcing it to the extent I worried about the PCB's integrity.

As a putative solution, I've tried wedging the IO shield in a recess on the outside rather than from within - I scratched my case somewhat but it stays securely and is flush with the protruding mobo ports from within the case.

Any thoughts or advice? Your comments and help are greatly appreciated.

Put the I/O shield in your motherboard I/O without inserting the whole mobo to the case, if you see it's fit perfectly, even with some pressure to the shield, then your I/O shield should be match with your current motherboard. If you can't even fit in outside the case, maybe some production error or some fail cuts happen with the I/O Shield.
