Hey plz tell me what's dedicated memory and system/shared memory.

Plz guys I really need help. I have zotac nVidea 210 1 gb graphics card..... I checked in settings that I have dedicated memory of only 512 mb... and in shared memory section I saw that it's 1227 mb! How is it possible.... also I play gta 4 with this card and I see vram available only 498 mb?! Plz tell me what is this stuff.. information provided is correct.. tested it many times..

dedicated mem--- the actually ram chips on the video card and is only used by the gpu (why it is dedicated) this is faster

shared mem--your motherboard ram, your video card uses the ram to store more then what would just fit on the video card itself. (shared because the video card is sharing the memory with your cpu) this is slower but still faster then the video card having to wait on the hard drive for the information

the majorty of nvidea cards and some amd cards uses system shared mem because it boost the video card performance just that much more while they don't have have to put physical memeory for the gpu so it saves them money. of course this is an industry secret that they don't publish on there stats is how much system ram...
