GPU overheating - game runs smoothly for 10 minutes, then FPS drops to 20ish

I know it's summertime, but about 40 minutes ago I cleaned my entire computer. Fans are crystal-clear, no dust in sight. Yet, my computer (mainly GPU) keeps overheating to the point that my games start to run sluggishly. I can have up to 200 FPS in a game, and that drops down to 20 after 10 minutes of playtime.
After starting up, my GPU temp is 50. Then it goes up to 80, idle. Goes beyond that when playing something.
Any ideas as to what I might do, without buying any extra or new fans, etc? I'm not in the financial position currently to buy anything else for a while, as cheap as it may be.

Nevermind, I found somewhat of a fix.
I limit all my games to 60 FPS and I also put a fan on a stand near my PC which is blowing directly into it. Idle temps are back to normal for the time being, GPU at 50 and HDDs at 40, under load the GPU goes to 70ish.
