How do I connect my new Sony TV to my old Sony Stereo?

You can connect the headphone out on the side of the TV to the stereo. I think you can set this as line level out in the TV menu but it not just keep the volume of the TV down so it doesn't overload the input of the stereo.
If you have to use the optical audio output you will need a DAC to convert to analog
