Before I build my PC I have questions about SSDs and HDDs

I am getting a 250 SSD but I only want that for boot time and then I want my HDD to handle the files etc. This is a completely new pc and I will be reusing 0 parts so it is completely fresh. I hear people talking about this but I think their methods are only for used parts. I am very new to this whole pc thing and I just wanted to have the record straight before I start

Solution

1. An SSD is far more than just 'boot time'
2. To manage space between the two drive, see this.
Win 7 & 8: http://www.tomshardware.com/faq/id-1834397/ssd-redirecting-static-files.html
Win 8.1 & 10: http://www.tomshardware.com/faq/id-2024314/windows-redirecting-folders-drives.html

Not sure what you do, but imo go for a 500gb Samsung 850 Evo,
Put your os and programs on this, and any current work like say photo editing.
At 250gb you will be nearly maxed out.

250GB £60 500GB £112 its a no brainer once you have had an ssd - you will never want to run anything on an HDD except backup storage!

I Even now have 2x 500GB SSDs, as interim badkup storage. So I dont have to wait around. I back up when I am going offline and just leave it to it.

You will absolutely kick yourself if you dont go the 500GB route.
E.g I have a 400 GB Intel 750 pcie ssd. Couldnt afford the 1.2 TB version, and with just 4 phot shoots on the main disk it is only 32% free!
Plus you dont want to overload an ssd not good for a long life.

So I cant just plug it in and then the pc will do the work. Cause then I will just get all HDD's to lower the amount of confusion as this is my first build and once I get better I will do more

Well..you, the human, have to do a few things.
Like install the OS, install your applications and games, redirect your Libraries, etc, etc.
It is not all automagic.

Ok well will it absolutely kill me if I dont have SSDs cause I am use to not having them I am just recently starting into gaming on the pc so I think I can deal with the lag that comes with an HDD. Or will it just be so bad you cant even deal with it

If your budget fits, there is no reason to NOT have an SSD. Once you have one for the OS and applications, you'll never go back.
