Hello,
I have been looking for an answer to my question for a while now but have yet to find a good answer that pertains to my situation.
I built a computer months ago with a main 1TB WD Green HDD. I have everything stored on there from pictures to gigs of game files. Recently I bought a 256GB SSD so I could have faster boot times.
So my question is how can I move just my OS to my SSD and keep all of my other data on my hard drive. If I need to do a wipe then can someone recommend a way to do a complete back up of all of my data and I mean ALL of it.

Solution
attach the ssd and detach the hdd...install windows on the ssd...after the installation is complete, reattach the hdd...get into bios and rearrange the boot order with the ssd as primary boot drive...ur hdd will then show up as a secondary drive and u can access all the data there...u can then backup the imp data on another disk if u have one and then format the hdd clean...
this wud be the best path for u...

I might have already seen this but do you have a good way to fully backup everything before I give it a try. That may have been what is holding me back before.

this is how it works in a nutshell...

cloning is very time saving but often leads to complications like driver not working or system files corrupting...best way to do an installation is always a clean install...now ur 1tb hdd has both ur OS and secondary data...if u have partition on it, then the task becomes relatively easy...but if everything is on a single partition then stuff becomes complicated...
is that hdd partitioned??? do u have ur secondary data on a seperate partition???

No I believe everything is on a single partition

attach the ssd and detach the hdd...install windows on the ssd...after the installation is complete, reattach the hdd...get into bios and rearrange the boot order with the ssd as primary boot drive...ur hdd will then show up as a secondary drive and u can access all the data there...u can then backup the imp data on another disk if u have one and then format the hdd clean...

Wouldn't this mean that I have two installations of Windows. One on either drive.
What is the imp data? Sorry I am relatively new to all of this

yes but ur ssd being primary boot device being set from bios, the pc will load from the ssd only...u can subsequently backup the imp data from ur hdd and wipe it clean to delete the windows on it...
imp data is wat u have mentioned as other data or personal data like images videos and so on...

Is there a free program that you recommend that is able to copy partitions and easily back up imp data and such

Do I need the same windows install disk or can it be another windows install disk for another computer. Because, for now I believe I can't find the one that I used to install Windows onto my current hard drive.
