Specs:
Cpu: amd 8350
RAM: 16GB (2x8GB) Crucial Ballistix Sport 1600MHz 9-9-9-24
8GB (2x4GB) Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz 9-9-9-24
Mobo: MSI 970a Krait Edition
GPU: EVGA GTX 970
PSU: EVGA G2 650

Here is the story I was previously running the 16 GB crucial ram and it all was fine and dandy running as expected and advertised. Never had to change anything in the system or its bios. I recently got my hands on the 8 GB corsair ram and decided to throw them into my system, and use to extra 4-8 GB as a ram-disk. But upon doing so my system bios showed the ram running at a mere 1333. I when into the OC setting and adjusted it back to 1600. Then after doing that when my system loaded I saw that the new capacity was registering as it should at 24 GB 1600 9-9-9-24. So I tried creating the ram-disk but was never able to set the size would always come back to 0 and would never enable. So I go back into my settings and I see that my ram is all over the place. The corsair ram is running at 1333 7-7-7-19 Did something go wrong or did i just get some mislabeled ram. Or did I just over look something. Or do these guys just not work well together. Or should I just stop being cheap and buy another stick or two of the Crucial I was previously running. Thank you so much for all your help guys.

NOTE* The PC I got the ram from was also reading it at 1333 9-9-9-24

There are lots of timings for memory modules, chances are your differ on some timing. Also, the more high-end module you have, the more demanding it is... while with plain JEDEC settings these different modules might work, if you push it to XMP profile, chances go down. Modules are not sold in pairs/quads/octets for nice packaging, they are matched to fit together exactly as they should...

Your chances would be MUCH higher to run on 1600/CL9 if the second kit was the same as the first one (ideally same p/n), but guarantee you'll only have if you get kit of four.

You can check by trying only Corsair kit and only Crucial kit... my bet on they'll run just fine on their own.

But my two previous sticks of ram I purchased separately one 8 GB then another 8 GB and they managed to run as expected together. My issue right now is with the corsair modules which are not even registering as they should regardless of the configuration they always seem to run at 1333 with variable latency. My two Crucial modules have the same p/n and the 2 corsair have a different p/n but matching with each other. But i see what your saying about the difference in p/n so I take it these two just wont play well together.

Look in CPU-Z, the memory tab to see what the DRAM is running at (guuessing Frequency will show 667 or 800 also tell us the timings. That is what ALL the DRAM is running at, where you see different data rates and timings it's simply looking at the SPD or the mobos defaults

Well after a few tweaks I got the ram to run at a steady 800 MHz with the clocks at 9.9.9.24 but under the SPD tab my two corsair modules are still not what they should be. The Frequency of both are running at 518MHz 7.7.7.19. And now im screwed because if i take out the ram my PC wont boot. The nightmares and head aches of overclocking.

Ok but the reason I mention it is because its always changing at least for the corsair sticks. And even when i install them alone they still have varied frequency and latency. Its crazy ive been dealing with and building PCs for years and have never had this many issue with a single rig before. Im just gonna stop being lazy and buy more of the other ram i was already running. Thanks for all the help guys.

Accidentally clicked solved in the email. But I have some new info Ive been tinkering away with the setting and got the ram to consistently run at 1600 9.9.9.24 but I still can seem to make a fully functional RAM Disk. MSI command center says it was enabled correctly but when attempting to set the size the only option is 0.
