hi,

I'm using windows 7, I've connected and powered up the hard drive. I can see the disk drive in the Disk Manager: "WDC AC26 400B USB Device".
in Disk management I cannot assign a letter, says Disk 2 Unknown, not initialized.
Not sure how to proceed from here,
Any suggestions and ideas are welcomed.

See that picture that shows settings for those things ? That's at the end of HDD where connectors for data cable and power are. On those pins yu can move little plastic thingies to pins appropriate to which configuration you want.
For Cable select for instance, you move it to last two pins on the right, marked 1 and 2.
For Dual slave on pins 3 and 4. etc. etc.
All of that is pretty standard even for drives connected by IDE/PATA directly to port on the MB and was wery important when you had two disks connected to same data cable.

That's an IDE, not sure if PATA, the HD is pre 2002 so I think that's a yes.
Could you elaborate on the how to? I'm pretty green in this field, master-slave, CS settings etc are new areas for me.
