Hey, i've had a i7 4790S for almost a year now, have been working fine and everything until now.

It starts to act diffrently and the temperature seems to rise. I haven't done any OC and i was just wondering if 40-50 °C is normal for my CPU with a stock cooler in idle ( while watching a video or just looking at the screen ).

Since it's getting summer over here in Sweden and it's very hot i think that's also one factor to the unusual temperature but it shouldn't affect that much.

I also wanted to know what temperature i should keep my CPU below to keep my CPU safe.

Thanks in advance guys!

Solution
10-15C above ambient room temperature at idle is ideal. As you have 40-50C at idle, you will have to check out or replace the cooler to something more substantial and at the same time replace your TIM.

so you're saying that 40-50C at idle as i described is too high?
