my X450lc supports maximum of 8GB RAM, Default is 4GB, I want to upgrade to 8 GB, what would be better if I install a 8GB or keeping the default one add another 4 GB??

Solution
To maximize memory bandwidth, two modules should be installed. So 2 x 4 GB modules is the preferred option.

However, getting another 4 GB module (with the same part number as the existing 4 GB module) might or might not work compatibly with the existing module. This is due to variations in module characteristics, and for two modules to be compatible requires their characteristics be similar.

Could try another 4 GB module (with the same part number), but be prepared to try other modules as well until a compatible combination is found.

It might be easier to get a dual channel kit (2 x 4 GB) instead as the kit modules are guaranteed to be compatible.
