Hey, this my first pc build, and I wanted to get some advice on the build I put together. I was trying to decide between an amd fx 8350 and the i5 6600K. I'm very interested in overclocking, and I'm planning on using this pc for both gaming and music production, so good sound quality, as well as graphics and processing are all important. Eh I wouldn't worry about overclocking, and I would even almost consider a FX8350 for any reason. I also wouldn't buy a sound card... at least not at first. I think you'd be surprised how well today's motherboard's audio output is. That psu is not very good either. You could easily get an i7 without increasing the overall cost too much if at all.

I have a quick question, why should I use the Xeon instead of the i5, rather than getting the i5 plus a cooling solution that would let me oc for the same price as the xeon. As far as I could find online, the architecture of the xeon is made for supporting servers, as opposed to the core, which is made to handle processes like games. Is this wrong?

The Xeon is a better idea because unlike the i5, the Xeon has hyperthreading like the i7 6700. In fact, architectually speaking, the 1230v5 is nearly identical to the i7 6700 so it would be perfectly awesome at all "regular" daily tasks.

Thanks for explaining this. One more question. I'm not 100% sure what hyper threading gives to the system, and I would like to know that for pure gaming purposes, is it more important to go for raw power or hyperthreading in terms of overall performance that I'm likely to see.

Hyperthreading essentially doubles the cpu's thread count. A four core i5 can handle four threads at a time. A four core i7 can handle eight threads at a time. The difference in per core clock speed between the 2 cpus mentioned would be negligible.

Ok, sorry for so many questions, but I just have one last one, (probably). With the build that you modified, do you see any bottlenecking happening? To be clear, I don't really know if the build I posted had any bottlenecking, I'm just wondering in general if I'll have to upgrade either my cpu, ram, storage, or motherboard at any point when upgrading to get rid of bottlenecking, or if the parts fit each other well and I should upgrade my gpu and cpu together when I do upgrade hardware.
