Hello folks, my friend is helping me build a PC for 2D animation/video-editing purposes, with a budget of about $750. We’re basing it off of a gaming pc build at $1000, but changing some of the parts to fit the budget. We’re also going for an SSD to help with video-editing. We’re going to be using a monitor, keyboard, mouse and speakers from an older PC.
It’s our first time building a PC and we just wanted to run this list by you guys to see if you thought it was solid or if there was anything we’re overlooking, or a way that we could improve without going over budget or save a bit more money.
Approximate Purchase Date: This week
Budget: (500-750) After Rebates; Before Shipping. Just for the parts, software and OS may go over.
System Usage: 2D animation, video editing, internet, gaming
Need to buy OS: Yes
Preferred Websites for Parts: Amazon, Newegg
Location: Piscataway, NJ, USA
Parts Preferences: Already have ADATA USA Premier SP 550 480 2.5” GB SATA III SSD
Overclocking: No
SLI or Crossfire: No
Monitor Resolution: 1280 x 1024
Here is the parts list, with the changes we made from the build we were following.
Motherboard: ASUS LGA1151 DDR4 DisplayPort HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 H170 ATX Motherboards H170 PRO GAMING
CPU: Intel Boxed Core I5-6500 FC-LGA14C 3.20 Ghz 6 M Processor
RAM: Kingston HyperX FURY Black 16GB Kit
Graphics card: EVGA GeForce GTX 950 Silent Cooling Gaming Graphics Card <downgraded from EVGA Ge Force GTX 970
Hard drive: ADATA USA Premier SP550 480 GB 2.5" SATA III Solid State Drive <upgraded from WD Blue 1 terabyte
Case: Cooler Master HAF 912
Power Supply: EVGA 650 GQ+ GOLD, 650W
Disc Drive: Asus 24x DVD-RW Serial-ATA Internal OEM Optical Drive
Also, three questions-
1. Are the fans in the case and the heat-sink enough to keep the build cool?
2. Is the power supply overkill for this build? Could we go with something else?
3. Is there a cheaper motherboard that would still be good for this build?
Thanks guys!
EDIT: I should have been more clear about the SSD in relation to the budget, we just recently purchased it for this build, and are counting it as part of the price. This was $94. Sorry for the confusion.
