I encrypted my Seagate 2TB backup plus slim drive with Bitlocker Drive Encryption in compatibility mode because I may have to connect it to a pc running an earlier version of Windows than mine. By the way, I'm running a 64 bit Windows 10 build 10586. I had put the drive to encryption at 3 am and slept. I don't know whether it fully encrypted or not but when I woke up and see, the encryption dialog box was gone and I thought it had finished. When I attempted to open it, it says "The bitlocker encryption on this drive isn't compatible with your version of windows". What to do? I tried cmd, it goes till enter the password to unlock the drive and displays nothing when I type. Help me out guys, I got more than a TB filled with movies.

Solution
"The bitlocker encryption on this drive isn't compatible with your version of windows" sounds like you need to hook it up to a computer that bitlocker will recognize as being compatiable then decript the hard drive back to normal while hooked up to it. sadly I cant tell you which windows viersion it is expecting.

Sadly this is a risk of any encryption is locking yourself out. Must be some special movies to encrypting them.
