I decided to buy an FX6300 instead of a 4th gen i3. I know the i3 is superior but in terms of bang for your buck, did I do a good deal? Considering I'm a gamer and do some light editing every now and then?

The i3 have better per-core performance, it's really up to what use are gooing to give the computer. I would have go with Intel side though.

I've had a 4th gen i3 and although I liked it very much, I don't intend to overclock the FX6300 just now. It seems fast enough for me for now,

4th gen i3 outperforms the fx-6300 at stock. But to each his own...
