Halo, like the title said, is it save to use Cheap Motherboard like asus h81m-c ($50) for a high end GPU like radeon 390? (gtx 1070 will be my next upgrade).

Im not going to overclock or SLI/Xfire to be honest, but i heard rumor that cheap motherboard in worst scenario can damage my other component. So if that true, i dont mind to spend extra money for a z series if it really needs, although i will not use any of the extra feature. I admit that i am a total noob in pc world :) so any advice will be appreciated. Thanks before...

I couldn't remember which exact cpu the h81 supports but the 4460 is also supported by the h97. The reason being there is the Asrock H97 Anniversary which is a solid board and comes quite cheap. The h97 is generally better than the h81. It is a bit more 'complete'.

Another big thing. Do you already have the 390? If not wait just a bit to get the new 480 by Amd. It comes next week so there is no reason to go with the old and quite troubled 390. the 480 supposedly performs better than a 390x and it would be price from 200$ to 250$. I would suggest considering this.

What you need is a good motherboard. I doubt that there a lot of mobo out there that can torch a gpu. So if the specific motherboard has good reviews or known reliability then it should be ok. But maybe go with an h97 if your cpu is compatible.

Don't cheap out on the motherboard or power supply. The motherboard controls everything on your system. Get a mobo that offers all the features you need, but go with a major brand (Asus, Gigabyte, MSI). The power supply pushes juice to everything. I see too many people buy top-tier components and a bargain bin PSU. Calculate the total wattage of all of your components, then buy a power supply that provides that, plus at least another 15-20%.
