I currently have the following APU: amd a8-5600k (4 cpus, 3.6 ghz) and the following GPU: Radeon hd 6570. However, since my gpu is rather old I am going to upgrade it with the new RX 480 that is coming out soon. Also I have 8 gb ram.

I want to know how much bottleneck my cpu will cause with a graphics card that is between the nvidia geforce 980 and 970. If I lose 5-10 fps then it's no problem but if my games plummet to a staggering 15-20 fps then that's a real problem...

P.S. I am not very good with this stuff so please explain in simple words :D
P.P.S If my cpu completely sucks then please tell me what cpu I should buy to lose the lowest fps possible, possibly under 100 dollars because that's all I can afford for a new cpu.

Solution
Around 4.2 Ghz. Overclocking what you have to the fullest extent is a good place to start.

Use AMD Overdrive and monitor the Thermal Margin well.
Since the GPU has yet to be released, it is hard to tell.

The loss of FPS is not really important. If your FPS were cut from 400 to 200, would you really care losing 200 FPS?

What you need to know is how many FPS you will get running your software on your system at whatever settings and resolution you use. We need to know what your expectations are. If it's 120FPS 4K, no chance at all.

That's a fairly weak CPU. What's your motherboard? The 'best' CPU you can find for your $100 budget will likely be an overclocked Athlon X4 860K (The 880K is a bit over budget) and that will limit a GPU in that class in many cases, but you still may get a good gaming experience.

My expectations are not very high, I'm perfectly content with 1080p resolution at 60 fps.
Instead of buying a new cpu, I'm thinking about overclocking my current cpu. Can you please tell me how much I can overclock my a8-5600k with Cooler Master Hyper 103 13.85cm fan and 550w on my power supply?

Btw my motherboard is: Asrock fm2a75 pro4-m.

There are many games that your existing CPU will not deliver 60fps in, regardless of how much you overclock it. On the other hand, in many it will. Why not buy the GPU first, and then see if you can achieve your desired framerates in the games you play before trying a platform upgrade?

Yes, I will do that

Yes, that was my follow-up line. Many CPUs much more powerful than the OPs struggle to do 1080p 60Hz on some games.

Overclocking is the best place to start, it's cheap and will show just what might be done and the OP does not need to wait for the RX 480. Also, the comparison of the improvement with the 'old' system will allow the OP to see just how much they got from overclocking.
