Question about MOLEX to 6-pin on modular PSU

Hey guys, spent some time searching for answers but none made me complete sure of what I can do

So I got me 2-nd 6950 near free and got me ZALMAN ZM660XT modular PSU

PSU has one 6-pin stock and I also use modular 6-pin both mor my GPU.

I'm curious, can I run both 6950's by using MOLEX-to-6pin converter for the second one?
Do these 5-pin's have the amps?

or should I split each 6-pin into two?

Judging by 12v amps this PSU should be more than enough for two 6950's, it is stated that each of them takes about 16amps, and by power distribution diagram, if I got it right, getting each 6pin split into two is the answer but I don't know how it works really

Each normal 6950 needs two 6 pin pcie leads capable of 75w each. Add to that, the potential power draw of 75w for the pcie slot and you get up to 225w for each card or 450w for the graphics complex. Add to that the cpu and other parts and you may be closer to the psu limits than you want. More so if you are using a overclocked FX-8xxx cpu.

You can try it.
I do not know about the quality of that particular Zalman psu. Sometimes a cheap psu will not deliver advertised power.
Assuming the psu has adequate protective circuitry you should be ok.
Look for display artifacts or high psu fan noise.
Indicators of an overloaded psu.

As to where to plug in the leads, it really does not matter.
The splitting into 4 12v rails is a UL safety...

I mean that PSU has 4 12v rails wow. so I mean it is actually capable of 240w on each different rail. please correct me if I am wrong. 20Ax12V=240w and x4 rails.
so you would find this config on lower end PSUs all the time, but this means that the PSU you have is great and has the beefiness to output as much as a better PSU. it delivers enough amps for it.

just you wont have any overclocking room at all. stock speeds are fine

personally I would be safe and get higher gauge adapters. look for higher gauge adapters. just so that your wires don't burn up

Since you have all the parts already go ahead and try it.

On some chart where someone listed PSU manufacturer by some ratings Zalman was in between of good and excellent, it is not top class but is capable of delivering the juice

and yeah, I was also surprised with 4x12v@20amps rails but math is true, it should have enough, with bronze 80% and rated on 88% it should have the juice. I use FX-4170, OC'd a bit, 125w plus bit more for OC, 2xHDD, 2x4GB RAM and few fans, it should do it

thing is, I don't have all the cables, I need to order a cable and I was having second thoughts should I go for molex or 6-pin split, just for safety.
So, if it's the case that it doesn't really matter where I plug it in, and I have two molex-to-6pin then I'll go for molex cable since it has more generic use

so I bought the 5-pin, plugged it in and at the same moment one 6950 died, two hard drives, mobo and dvd drive.... and also PSU lost +5v on 5-pins...

it turns out I was stupid, I didn't know that modular cables are not standardized, read a lot of posts of it after that, but if I only knew...

not sure how to translate that part of PSU, it's that circular transformer that died, so the PSU can probably be saved...
unlike 1.5TB of data from hard drives
