I'm confused whether I should keep my PC on throughout the day (I don't need it at night) or shut down when I am done and turn it on again when I need it? Coz in that case I'll be booting and shutting down at least 5-6 times a day.. I know it's inconvenient but for me the only concern in doing that is my HDD. My OS is installed on a Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM Mechanical Drive instead of an SSD. I have heard that frequently booting lowers the life of an HDD. Is that true? What's more unsafe for me to do? Shut Down and boot frequently or keep PC on throughout the day?

Do you have a problem with standby or using the hibernate feature??

Generally in the day if I'm notbusing the PC for an hour or 2 I'll just drop in standby because there's no reason not to.
Overnight I'll just use standard hibernate which is the default on win 10.

My PC is never completely ' powered off' but I see no reason to leave it running fully even at idle - makes no sense to me at all.

Resume from standby takes 2 seconds, resume from hibernate about 10 seconds - it takes that long for my screen to come on!
