Any SSD is fine, outside of the new small form m.2 models. The general recommended drive is the Samsung EVO 950. For an adapter, you would need one of these to fit the smaller drive in the cage for your TouchSMart https://www.amazon.com/Notebook-Drive-Mounting-Bracket-Adapter/dp/B00AYJFXIQ

Besides the cage adaptor would I need a different cable for the conversion from HDD to SSD?
