I've carefully cleaned my GPU. I took it out, gave it a nice, gentle clean, then just put it back in. Everything is properly connected (didn't disconnect anything, only the GPU). Everything in the PC turns on. HDD, fans...
This is a fairly old system (10 years old).
Mobo is an assus p5ld2-se, a core 2 duo E4400 and a Radeon 4830.
This almost always happens when j clean the pc. Usually, it randomly turns on and works after a few failed boots/posts. Sometimes, it just turns on after one go. Other times, not even swapping the RAM, unplugging every but the CPU doesn't work. I'm at a loss here... I don't think it's the ram, because the same thing happens if I take out all the RAM. Could it be a faulty motherboard?

Solution
If you unplug the power cord to open the case and take the gpu out, it could be an empty cmos battery. The bios looses basic setting then and that may result in some reboots to reconfigure.

How did you clean the GPU, I hope you used pressurized air meant for cleaning electronics. Other methdos can create static electricity and damage your equipment. Does it always do this or just after the cleaning process? Could be a faulty component or some connection being lose, check all cable connections etc.
