So I'm thinking about upgrading my graphics card so that i can start playing a couple of games but I'm not sure which graphics card is compatible with my pc

My specs are (from dxdiag) :
System Model: Inspiron 3847
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40GHz (8 CPUs), ~3.4GHz
Memory: 8192MB RAM
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GT 705
Display Memory: 4045 MB

Can you guys help me? And if the specs are not clear just ask, thanks beforehand

I'd say you migth need to upgrade your power supply, but as for chooses is based off what you want to play? like for older games. save some cash and just get a GTX 750 Ti. but for I higher games you migth want a GTX 980 Ti but you'd need a new power supply for that.

If you are running 1080p I recommend the RX480 8gb that releases on June 29th for $229. If you gaming at 1440P or higher you may want to go for the GTX 1070, but they are currently overpriced due to low supply. They should be available for around $400 in few weeks

One benefit of the RX480 is that it will typically only draw around 100W while gaming, so if that saves you from buying new power supply could be helpful.

980ti isn't as powerful as the newer 1070, and the 1070 is only a 150w card, unlike the 980ti, from 200-250w card

True but he/she migth have a budget and can't drop around 400 bucks on something like that. I'm looking at the avg guy/girl just trying to get something that works great with a price tag around 100-200 bucks. I agree that it'd run less power but it'd be cheaper to get a new power supply then get a new graphics card that he/she might not even push that hard.

Kinda,I'm not really good with mother broads but I can say that even older mother broads can use graphics cards. I'd say yours however would be fine

Both the new 480 and 470 are single 6-pin cards... Low draw units.

I think we'll even see the 460 beating the 750ti... using just the pci slot for power.... The 460 is the new 750ti.
