Ok so im interested in building a pc i used to be heavy into it when i was younger but now iv kinda lost touch with the building game. Im just wondering what i should go with my budget is very tight but i want to start out small and then upgrade piece by piece so id like to opt in on a motherboard and case with room to upgrade for now i would settle with a quad core mayble a dual to get by and 4g ramm dddr3 which i already have 4 1g sticks i could uae if the motherboard has 4 slot unless you think i should consider ddr4 or 5 let me know i already have a graphics card that will do the job for now i will need to get a power supply. so give me your opinions and some links if you have them keep in mind though i am on a tight budget i might even have to buy a new piece every paycheck. Thanks. Ps no water cooling systems

YouTube is your best friend. There is almost nothing better than being able to watch a few videos on how to do something, to be sure you know what you need to do.

Take advantage of sites like pcpartpicker.com as it will show you the lowest price from a list of retailers, but you can tell if everyone is out of stock on an item (price will be blank if everyone is out of stock,) but it will also let you know if you are buying a russian CPU for an american motherboard... Or something like that... :)

If you are using 1GB memory sticks, you are likely so far outdated that you are going to need to get a modern motherboard, CPU and memory at a minimum.

Today's motherboards expect 4GB or 8GB memory sticks. 8GB is about the minimum I would...

Today's motherboards expect 4GB or 8GB memory sticks. 8GB is about the minimum I would recommend to someone building a new system today. We are also in the process of replacing DDR3 with DDR4 memory. The Skylake CPU's (I3, I5 and I7 series CPU's numbered in the 6 thousand range. All future AMD and Intel CPU's will need DDR4 memory.

If you have a really, really old video card, you might be better off buying a CPU that has onboard graphics, and use that until you can get the money together to get a nice video card. Both AMD and Intel sell chips that have onboard graphics.
