Hope this is correct place to put this...I am at my wits end...I am having an issue which revolves only around my wifi router, twitch and chromecast. For instance I watch twitch on my PC...fine. I watch it on my Nexus 6 while using in home wifi, again fine. When I try to stream either one to chromecast to watch on my tv, via my router it constantly buffers and is very choppy. This recently started..until yesterday I had no issue. Odd thing is a few streams that I pick play fine. It kinda seems as though the ones with a lot of very fast action are the bad ones. When looking at the bars on my wifi it seeems to fluctuate.I am about to buy a new router...would hate to have the same issue though...ideas?

Also...Is there a problem with windows 10 recognizing wifi routers? I recently upgraded and there is basically nothing in windows 10 to check out the signal of anything network connected.

on your router make sure it has the newest firmware. also check to see if there more then one router near you on the same channel if there is try changing the channel on the router. on the router sometime they can over heat and or do a slow death dance. try turning both the router and tv off and reset the tv see if anything changes. if the tv slows down again see if the tv uses a wifi stick or it part of the tv. if it a wifi stick see if there a newer 2.4/5g stick for your tv.

I'll try these suggestions out..and get back. thank you. The tv has the chromecast plugged in to a usb port on the rear of the set...other than that the tv does not have wifi itself. The weird thing is sometimes out of the blue for a few hrs it will be perfect...then buffer like crazy again. I tried a wifi analyzer app on my android..and it shows I do have a ton of traffic near me on the same channel. I tried a better one it suggested for now..the best one no one is on I cant use, I can only pick 1-11. It is 14. I am thinking after your post that it is either the traffic interference or my 6 yr old router is crapping out.

Switch the channels on the router between 1, 6, and 11 to rule out interference on a particular channel.

Overheating and crapping out after 6 years is a good probability. You can test this out by buying a new router from a store with a customer friendly return policy and see if the problem goes away. A mid level AC capable router should give you all the performance you need for internet access and will be faster than the Chromecast at any rate. If it doesn't solve the problem, return the new equipment to the store, that is what the return policy is for.

I have found not one channel is better or worse than another. Odd thing is I can stream HBO now and Netflix flawlessly..It just seems to be twitch, and then only about half the streams I watch. This makes diagnosing very confusing..I'll hit Fry's Monday and grab a new router...they have a good return policy usually.
