Hello Everyone :) I built my first PC a couple of months ago. It has been working fine until now. It will not show anything on the monitor and their is also no lights on the keyboard and mouse. However, the fans and LEDs are all working fine.i dont know much about pc wiring but i reconnected the wire connecting power supply to motherboard. this solved my problem but once i sut it down for 5 hours i again give the same problem. the time of is not changed and it shows the time when i turned it off last time. my specs are:
1 500 w seasonic 80 + psu
2 2600 i7
3 250 gb hdd
4 8 gb ram 1 stick
5 intel mother board
plz answer quick , and thanks!

Solution
After you replace the battery, you need to go into the Bios and reset the date and time and any other settings you had previously that weren't default.

Bad ram can also cause this, as can a short in the keyboard or other usb device. USB devices themselves can be culprits as the pc is trying to use them as a storage device but the device itself doesn't register as such so throwing bios into a loop that doesn't move. It can depend entirely on bios settings. Dead or failing battery is usually detectable when the actual time is wrong, system time is maintained by the cmos battery as will be evident of the battery is removed and the mobo power is discharged. Unplug the pc, remove the battery, hold down power button and count to 10.

Is anything at all showing up on the monitor? Like a bios post before going to black screen?

For now, I'd use factory default values, reset the time/date. If they are wrong, which they will be, there will be errors as drivers and files get funky when loaded as they require verification. A checsum error occurs when there is a non user change to cmos. This confuses the bios. Most usually the fix is just reset the cmos by unplugging the pc, moving the cmos jumper to the other set of pins for 2 seconds, return jumper to original pins, plug pc in and reboot. The only change I'dake is in the video settings and changing primary display from igpu to peg. This sets the video to come from the pcie graphics, not the on board graphics processor.
