First I apologize, was on two threads at the same time when I responded, and yours is a laptop, so we wouldn't be able to make changes to timings and voltages, as far as DRAM upgrade though and them often being problematic, might look at my Fiction article, items 2...

You can try adding, no guarantees when mixing packages of DRAM - even if they are the same exact model - if you try and have problems, give a shout and we can try timing/voltage adjustments which often will get them to play, but not guaranteed. Best to get full amount you want/need in a single package ;)

Thanx for replying,
why it is so tedious to select a ram for upgrade, we are going towards bright marketing monopoly future inst it...?:ouch:

Part of the problem is that every RAM stick has a controller and they keep changing them and of course most manufacturers keep their own. Other part is MB and it's BIOS that doesn't allow separate control for each bus but have one control for all of them.
It used to be much worse with DDR2 and older, there were single and double sided chips and not all MBs could handle both. Older, SDRAM where finicky as hell and had to be factory paired and checked so two sticks even of same make and type would work together.
