Question about PSU connectors

Hi!
I'm preparing to put together a PC. All is well, except i have one doubt, which i want to be sure of - will my future PSU's PCIe 6+2 connectors able to feed my CPU on its ATX 12v 8-pin connector, or do i have to seek for a PSU with dedicated 4+4 or 8-pin connectors for that? Thanks in advance and sorry if i'm bit hard to understand, english is not my native language.

Solution

probably , if you intend on a single cpu and a single gpu , then 600 w would be enough mate

I'll probably go with something from Nvidia's Pascal series. If there will be gtx 1060, then that, otherwise 1070. So it will require 8 pins. My PSU will have another 6+2 free, will it suit for CPU power?

Alright, thanks!

Hi

Just to clarrify the pci-e 6 or 6+2 Or 8 pin plugs are different from the atx 4 pin or eps 8 pin plugs
Both provide 12 volts but to different pins

It should not be possible to fit the wrong plug in the wrong socket

If you used a knife to trim the plastic you could do it, but would probably burn the motherboard or graphics card

Check specs of PSU for number of pci-e plugs provided and what ampage on 12 volt rail(s)

Ordinary psu's Only have one cable with 4+4 (=8) for atx eps to power cpu
And several pci-e plugs for graphics
