I recently asked about H61 Gigabyte ram speed on sheet specs, because depending on revision some can OC to 2200 some are limited to 1333. (Info below).

I have a GA-H61M-S2PV Rev 2.0 (all rev's limited to 1333mhz) and doing some research I found a bios settings video, which shows that with a i7-3770K the Ram multiplier gets unlocked (to 3000mhz).

I know Ram on these setups are controlled by the Cpu. What I want to know is if the Ram speed will get unlocked on the Bios with a non-k Ivy Bridge, because I'm planning to get something like a 3570S, and I want to know if I will be able to put the Ram to 1866 - 2133.

This are the mhz limits according to gigabyte, that according to my finds are probably not correct and they get unlocked or not on the Bios depending on the CPU. (Probably)

GA-H61M-DS2 max Ram speed:
rev. 1.0 : 1333
rev. 1.2 : 1333
rev. 2.0 : 2200
rev. 2.1 : 2200
rev. 2.2 : 2200
rev. 3.0 : 2200
rev. 4.0 : 2200
rev. 5.0 : 1333

GA-H61M-S1 max Ram speed:
rev. 2.0 : 2200
rev. 2.1 : 2200
rev. 2.2 : 1333
rev. 3.0 : 1333
rev. 4.0 : 1333

Or, there is any software that can disassemble a bios file, and see the settings depending on which CPU is used? (I will ask gigabyte too.)

My board wouldn't go 2133 very stable even when I had 2400 ram in it doing some testing. The board has nothing to do with ram speed other than being a means to connect ram go the controller on the CPU. The settings aren't locked in any fashion, but it's a z series board I suspect ocing capable boards are more user friendly. I got blasted by a few people for using a z series board with a non k processor but I can run my CPU at 3.5 GHz with it so I saved $75 in processor and spent $20 extra in board for same performance

I think (sorry if not) you are judging the capacity of a non-k i5 Ivy Bridge, to achieve certain Ram speed, but that’s not what I’m asking, I’m just asking If on my motherboard BIOS (if not, one similar) the Ram speed will get unlocked from the maximum of the official specs. http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4091#sp

By the way according to this article, most i5 non-k (22nm) will achieve 2133mhz.

At what speed do you have your G.SKILL's?
