Hello, first time poster.

I have a rather old Vaio, VPCEE2s1e/bq and its on its last legs by now, I was hoping someone could give me some upgrade advice.

It uses an S1 Socket for the CPU and I found this on ebay http:// Which I think will work just fine.

I am struggling to find out if the GPU can be upgraded though, I know 99% of Laptops have integrated GPU or APU, but if someone could confirm "Yay or Nay" I would be grateful.

I pulled the info from "Speccy", thing is, I don't want to spend a lot on upgrading, $200 max. The CPU I found is only $25 so, I can go quite high on a GPU upgrade if it's possible.

Thanks for the help

You might need to contact Sony support and ask them for a definite answer. I just checked and it looks like yours can be upgraded to a max of 8 GB's, but you will have to see if you already have one stick or two. My gut feeling is that the money spent trying to upgrade a 6 year old laptop would be better spent on new one with much better performance.
Upgrading the graphics isn't an option. You may not be able to upgrade the CPU either. There are several variations of the socket, and while a different CPU might physically fit, it still may not work. The only things I might upgrade on that system are adding another 4 GB of RAM (not even sure if that is supported) and replacing the HDD with an SSD which can reused when the time for a new laptop or PC comes.

Thanks for the answer, is there anyway to find out if any parts CAN be upgraded? I get a little lost when it comes to chip sets and compatibility. I realize I will probably have to "donate" this machine to the community center pretty soon but if I can squeeze a little longer out of the old girl I would want to try it.
