I'm just wondering. On a game that requires more graphics power then CPU power would the CPU be holding back the GPU with the resolution 2560x1080?

I have a Pentium g3258 (Stock 3.2ghz, but I can overclock if needed to.)
The GPU is a GTX 960 OC Mini-ITX from Gigabyte.
16gb of ddr3.

Solution
Let's say hypothetically that your CPU can deliver 45fps in a certain scene in a game. In this scene. your GPU can deliver 100fps at 1280x720, or 30fps at 2560x1080. At 1280x720, you'd get 45fps, and at 2560x1080, you'd get 30fps.

CPU requirement does not change (much) with graphical settings. Your max FPS with a CPU will be around the same regardless of video card or graphical settings.
