maybe xp is not supported on any latest updates ? it sees Xp and just don't do anything that's how it is anymore on things as that ?/
now yopu could go to adobe and download there uninstaller uninstall the flash you got then reboot and let it auto reinstall when it see you don't have any flash installed and then it should give you the most updated one for XP use ??

something in your old flash maybe hanging up the works so try a fresh start ???
