Recently I upgraded from my FX - 6300 to an FX 8350. My motherboard is an msi 760gm p23 and my gpu is a zotac 970. On overwatch when gaming I get high fps but lag spikes which go from 100 down to 30 fps. I decided to run a monitor program to see my temps and when ever I got a lag spike ingame I would notice that my cpu temp would rise to 206 c. I need help because I just got this cpu a few days ago and im not sure if thats the problem.

I have to say this if your cpu is reaching 206c that just simply can't be cause thats over 400 degrees Fahrenheit. I safely assume your getting a false reading. What cpu cooler are you using? Are you overclocking your cpu? What program are you using to monitor those temps?

I am using the stock cooler that comes with the FX- 8350. I haven't done any overclocking to my cpu and im using CPUID HWMonitor. The only thing is, if it is a false reading, why am i getting a huge lag spike in game.

Upon researching your motherboard. It iss not compatible with the 8350 , because of it's poor power, and thermal design. Your pushing your luck with it even booting and your pushing that luck a lot. If you don't believe me I put the link for your board and you can click the cpu compatibility and see for yourself. Honestly you need to get a new board.

Edit: Your board is ment to support cpu's with a max of 95 watts, the fx-8350 is 125watts

ok thank you. It would have been nice if they included that on the amazon page. The only thing it says about the cpus on amazon is the socket type so I just concluded that it would work.

Next time use PCPartPicker this will avoid this situation from happening again.

Well I used it for the original build where I used the FX 6300. When I upgraded I assumed it would be fine since it was the same chipset.
