''newer video card because this 280x can't even play on high and ultra settings''

that's a lot of card for that chip and i'll assume its a bottle neck that 280x need a proformance cpu like a AM3+ 8350 or higher end of the i5 series in order to let the card open up

'' However, the R9-280X is a bit much for the APU to keep up with. You will be paying for graphics power you won't be able to use. CPU bottleneck, in other words. Drop back to the R9-280 or the GTX 260 for a better balanced system''

my PSU says on the back of it where I plug in the cord HX 750

+resinmage If you truly have a Corsair HX 750 (750 watts of course) then you have almost unlimited options. For your $200 budget, you should strongly consider the AMD RX 480 (4 GB) model which is supposed to release in three days on June 29th for $199. However, were it might money, I would stretch the budget to $229.99, in order to get the 8 GB version. Either one will be a tremendous upgrade.

If this is your PSU: http://www.corsair.com/en-us/hx-series-hx750-power-supply-750-watt-80-plus-gold-certified-modular-psu
...you will not be limited by power. Your budget is your only limit. But getting too much card for the APU can be a waste of money. The A10-7850K will bottleneck most any card beyond a GTX 960 or R9-380. However... If you DO get a faster card it can always be moved along to the next PC if you ever upgrade.

Good point. I missed the "R9" reference.

+resinmage Could you please take some photos of the inside of your computer, so that we can confirm if you have a discreet graphics card or not. Then post those photos on imgur and post the link here.

+madmatt30 Good catch.

Madmatt30's observation has prompted a bunch of questions in my mind:

Is there a discreet graphics card installed?

If so, is the computer utilizing the discreet GPU or the onboard graphics?

If using the discreet graphics, is the CPU bottlenecking the GPU?

Would the $200 budget be better allocated to a skylake CPU and MB?

Yes it is the Corrsair 750. BTW i'm clueless about PC's some idiot put the CPU in my rig with that MB and the 290x MSI video card. So that is good news then being able to get a better GPU to work with my Motherboard. I just want to know if I can get another better video card that it wont be a problem with my MB or that CPU he put in my rig.

A 290X!? That is way more gfx card than the A10-7850K can keep up with. You should be getting the best performance you possibly can. Are you sure the monitor is plugged into the card and not the motherboard video?

sorry it may be the 280x - this one http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=280x&view=detailv2&&id=358DB6615FC24CA4954ED2D72D9FD61B169FD0AB&selectedIndex=0&ccid=U84sYrYj&simid=608004784185281352&thid=OIP.M53ce2c62b62312380f9e8732b60ef8d2o0&ajaxhist=0

3072MB ATI AMD Radeon R9 200 Series (MSI) is what It says. It is plugged into hdmi into the GPU.

Some guy off craigslist site went with me to the store and showed me what to buy. That MB, PSU a case , fan and that 7850 cpu because that was the best one he said at the time for that MB and my budget. I have no idea how to upgrade and install a cpu besides I already upgraded to that 7850.

can't I just buy a newer video card because this 280x can't even play on high and ultra settings. I get 20fps drops in cities. Barley get over 30fps. So it can't be that great.

you just got way more gpu then you do cpu and its holding things back

your gpu is wanting to get up and go but the cpu is tripping over its tongues hanging out while its gasping

Your problem isn't the gfx card. If you are not happy with the performance, the problem is the CPU. Or other issues with your system. To get better performance from the gfx card that you have, you need to move to a faster platform than the FM2.
