New build consisting of gpu: PowerColor PCS+ Radeon R9 390 and mobo: GIGABYTE GA-B150M-DS3H. I have managed to get both windows 7 and 10 running at seperate points on this system with no problem, but shortly into starting games my display craps out on me. I have used several seperate drivers, from catalyst 15.11.1 to crimson 16.6.1 to no avail. I get RSOD on some occasions, BSOD on others, and some of the time a freeze before the crash. ran furmark and saw 67 degrees tops, don't think its overheating. Have removed and reinstalled gpu several times. changed tdrdelay value. what am i missing? currently running windows 7. psu is cx750m, 120gb ssd, 500hdd. whocrashed errors include thread stuck in driver, attempt to rest display driver and recover from timeout failed

Solution
If this happens on clean Windows setups and with different drivers versions, I'd test the RAM one stick at a time, then test the card in another system that can run it, maybe try a different power supply. CX quality is middling, the 390 is a pretty demanding card for power.
