Hey guys, I was planning on overclocking my cpu this summer. I put the pc together about three years ago with plans to overclock, but never got around to it. I was just wondering, should I re-apply thermal paste to my cpu before I overclock? Also, any other suggestions or tips to better prepare my pc for overclocking (like adding fans to my case or cpu cooler) would be much appreciated. Thank you. Here are my specs

CPU - i5 3570k
MOBO - z77 extreme 4
CPU COOLER - hyper evo 212
GPU - HD7970
CASE - nzxt phantom 410

clutchc

Titan
Ambassador
Thermal paste (applied correctly) on that age processor should still be fine. Unless it was run under extreme load conditions 24/7 in a hot environment for years.
Just watch core temps when stress testing. Intel lists the Ivy Bridge i5-3570K as safe to 72C for continuous use. Peaks can go above that. 100C is where it begins to throttle.
