So my friend plugs something in to a usb 3.0 slot backwards, goes away to do something. He returns and his computer is dead. As press power, nothing happens at all, no POST, no beeps, no lights.
I didn't think usb could be so deadly, but I'd assume at least the mobo is broken. I am reminded however that PSU breakages can damage all the other parts of a system. I remember my own PSU dying, taking my MOBO, probably the CPU, RAM, and GPU, the latter 2 being ok for a while and then causing intermittent crashes and artifacts, until I realized the PSU probably caused hidden damages so they had to be replaced. It was time for a new computer anyways.

So I'm hoping that the mobo is just fried so hard that PSU doesn't even recognize it. Power switch and manually jump starting the mobo didn't work, with only the mobo cpu and psu connected, but it would make sense if that part of the mobo was fried. Unfortunately I don't have any parts to test right now, but hes taking it to a shop to see what happens.

Anyone has any more insight on this problem?

Thanks
