Hi, I'm hoping someone has advice on this somewhat unique question. I am living in a part of the world where I can't just go to a local computer shop and have them install a new graphics card in my computer. I also do not want to attempt this myself because if I 'break something' there is no hope of getting help/repairs.
I've seen a couple options for external graphics cards connected by USB 3.0 or 'Thunderbolt', but these seem to be proprietary to laptops from a particular company (Alienware).
So my question: can this be a viable option for a desktop PC? Is there a piece of hardware I can hook up to my computer externally, that will match the benefits of a new internally installed card?
System:
Dell XPS 8700 (purchased 2014)
24 GB RAM
Intel i4770
(pre-installed) NVidia GTX 660
2 TB/500 GB SSD
Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you!
