Hi Forum,
I just built a new pc and immediately got a few problems...
I5 6600k
Xfx r7 370 4gb (from my old rig)
16gb ddr4
Gigabyte z170n gaming 5
High power sfx-l500 psu
Cryorig c7 cpu cooler
Silverstone rvz02 b case
Samsung evo 500gb
Samsung 500gb m.2 nvme ssd

So first problem was with melting sata data cables... hopefully it is solved now, haven't tested it yet, why, because I can't even access my bios with ssd plugged in.... I press power button and fans spin for just under 1 second and pc shuts down, so I can't even access bios, once ssd unplugged I can boot my pc, access bios... Also, another issue under boot sequence I don't see any options at all...

Maybe I need to change something in bios so my new PC will stop giving me headache ?????

Solution
Something is wrong with that drive. It's like the reason the cable melted and it looks like it may have damaged the SATA port on the motherboard. I'd RMA the drive and the motherboard. I wouldn't not plug that drive into any other system as you could damage the cable and motherboard on that system.
Well I'd venture a guess that your SSD is bad. Whether it was bad to start with or whether something caused it to fail is a good question. Do you have a HDD or ODD to try and plug into the same port with the same cable as the SSD? This will determine if the cable and port are OK. If you connect a different drive into that port and it POST's and you can see the drive in the BIOS, then the port and cable are OK and the SSD is definitely the problem. However if you try another drive and the system doesn't POST then it's either the cable or port.

I'd be very suspicious of the motherboard as well. I know that in your other thread, the other suggestions were that the cables were cheap and at fault. However SATA data cables don't handle much current. I suspect either something in the SSD shorted through the data cable (power) or the motherboard did it.

I just tried different SSD, the that was working for sure, and the same result... so you think my mobo is gone?

just tried it.... sata data cable gets hot again.... but pc boots, so I just shut it down , should I return mobo, could it be a defective mobo?

Yeah, probably, I already contacted seller on Amazon and returning it tomorrow.
So, sata ports might be broken and other parts work correctly?

I would not trust that SSD either. I would replace both. Since we can't be 100% certain which caused the original problem. I also wouldn't trust the SSD to try in another system in case it damages that system.

So ultimately I'd exchange the SSD and motherboard just to be safe.

I'll try a new mobo and m.2 ssd that I didn't use yet, hopefully this time it will be fine
