Bonjour,

I'm thinking about upgrading my system.

Currently have: nVidia GeForce GTX 970 4GB

Upgrading to: Gainward Nvidia Geforce GTX 1080 8GB
(https://www.dragoncomputers.eu/ultrasnelle-Gainward-Nvidia-Geforce-GTX-1080-met-8GB-GDDR5X-PCI-E-2xDVI-HDMI-3xDP-grafische-kaart?search=gtx%201080)

My rig:
water cooled Intel Core i7 4790 4-Core (8threads) 3.6Ghz (turbo: 4.0Ghz)
silent 600 watt Lepa 85+
Samsung UE590 UHD 28" 4K monitor
120GB SSD HDD
1TB HDD SATA3 8GB DVDRW
TP-Link TL-WN881ND (300MBit)
16Gb RAM

I'm not sure if the processor and power supply in combination with the GTX 1080 can handle 4K.
Could you advise?

Kind regards,

De Maester

Hi

I have the K version of that CPU and I have a TX3 EVO on it. I also have a MSI GTX 970 4G.

The GTX 1080 can display up to 8K but that would be for desktop display only. You can get a decent frame-rate at 1440p but any higher and you may need to lower a few settings. 4K is basically 4x1080p so say you were getting 220fps or something then you can divide that by 4 to get an idea of what frame-rate you'd get.
