So first off all I was thinking of changing my CPU to intel from a FX-6300 but seemed pretty useless for what I need.

So now I am looking to upgrade my GPU.
It would be nice to run GTA in 1080p and not 720p and have some graphics settings ramped up a bit

I currently run a XFX 6770 1GB GDDR5 (cheap £20 from friend) which is a slight upgrade from my last GPU ATI/AMD 6670 2GB GDDR3.
About 3 moths ago I was running a 6670 2BG GDDR3, since I have swapped it from the 6670 .
I have noticed I have more FPS and have been able to add a few more settings in GTA V using the 6770.

I am currently running everything on it's lowest with water texture +1 from the lowest and render distance +1 from the lowest setting.

It would be nice to run GTA in 1080p and not 720p which I can do with the 6770 but due to the 1GB VRAM restriction I can't turn any graphics settings up :(

I was looking around and seen a 650ti 2GB GDDR5 that could be promising.

Would this be a decent upgrade from the 6770?, I'm looking to buy used

Solution
Do not buy it now. Wait for Radeon RX4xx series get released on 29th at $100-$250 price range. They will take all market below Fury/980Ti, and force the prices down. For example, $150 RX470 is similar in speed to R390-GTX970, and $100 RX460- similar to GTX950-GTX960-r9 370. So you can buy RX460 if you want low power car with latest tech like HEVC/H265 decoding, or a used card way cheaper than they cost now.

Well used they are going for £65 -$85 on eBay used. I live in the UK and no prices have been release really over here yet, people have got samples for testing but no one really knows what the pries will be like.

The problem is I haven't seen any pricing for the new RX cards in the UK , only been seeing them in the $ :( We have them but only for testing at the moment. Also would a RX460 bottle neck my CPU FX 6300 or vis vera?

AS I have said to the others, We dont knwo the pries over here what's $100 in US is £75 here straight conversion but your cards always seem cheaper than ours for some reason.

Only 2 days left till all the information on new cards is released. Certainly worth the wait. Then, if prices are good, prices of all older cards have to go down.
As for the fx6300 and rx460- there is no need to worry about bottlenecks, the card will not run 1080p all max settings well, but at mid-high everything will run without bottlenecks

Seconded.

Thanks for the information, what do you mean but it not being able to run 1080p on max settings? The 750ti can run everything on very high settings with only 2GB of GDDR5 memory and reach 38 FPS while playing, by max do you mean ultra ?

The rx 460 will be about twice as powerful, so go figure :)
I would strive for teh 4 gig version though as games are already pushing past 2 gigs even on 1080p. Especially games like GTA V.

Twice than a 750TI, do you have any proof?

Proof or disproof is coming in a couple of days. Even if it's not twice(though i really thing it will be) it will be atleast a 50% perf increase over the 750 ti.

Not that I doubt of you, I just don't trust companies "pre-release" marketing, I need to see it. Market competition is always welcome because prices go down.

I agree with your comments , no one really know but going off the specs given so far , is there any way to compare them base on those particular specifications.

No way, for example similar "techincal" specs when comparing AMD vs NVidia behave totally different.

@ema21del9 thanks for the clarification, I know some things about CPU's AMD side and a little with intel CPU and a small amount about both sides but there are still may things for me to learn and understand from both team RED and GREEN when it comes to GPU's.

Based on what all of you guys have said , it's just a waiting game until the new cards come out? How quick do you think information will be release (reviews and bench testing) I have heard that TomsHardware received a sample of the RX line up, so you know if this is true and do you know when such information will be released ?

Thank you for everyone's help so far, its nice to have such a great community to talk to who are patient and seem to have no problems with answering my questions.

Thank You all

Yeah TomsHardware is what I will be looking at. I don't suppose you have any idea on how long the board partners will make their own coolers etc and do you think they would be more expensive than the reference models ?

Reference models are always more expensive, maybe 1 month until custom cards (?) dunno really.

Awesome that's what we want! Do you think the reference will be cheaper than a designed model from MSI,ASUS etc ?

I just said the opposite in the comment above yours haha, reference model are more expensive most of the time, but that rule doesn't apply all the time.
