I am planning on doing a new build apart from storage, and power supply

but am planning using the old build build parts +new storage and psu, to build another PC for a friend who is buying my old parts, how would i keep the OS (its OEM) from the current build into the the PC for a friend? would it be easier to keep my current storage with the build for my friend and buy myself new storage?

Thank you for any solutions

Was this a preinstalled OS?
Do you have the license key and install media?
Which OS is it?

Yes it was preinstalled,

no i don't have the license key because the free windows 10 upgrade screwed it over,

and windows 10

OK, the install media for Win 10 can be had here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
Since this is already been Upgraded to Win 10, you don't need a 'license key'.
Make him a DVD or USB, give him the old parts, let him install Win 10 fresh on whatever drive he wants.
That motherboard has already been registered at home base, so it should activate no problem.

For your new system, buy your OS, and install it on whatever drive.

You can find the key if you contact Microsoft support I think.
