Some of my devices can't connect to internet and need wifi reset to connect after new router, whats the problem?

So I bought a new router and some of my devices (1 android phone, 1 iphone 4 and at times an ipad Air) require their wifi cards to be reset at times as they are no longer able to receive network, despite the fact that they are connected to the router with a stable connection (3 or 4 out of 5 bars). This started happening mainly after I changed my router to from a TP-Link w8961nd to a TP-Link Archer D2. Odd thing is that this problem doesnt happen on any of my other devices, including my own Moto G, my laptop and my other laptop. Whats the problem? I have assigned all of my devices with static IPs to avoid any IP related issue.

Is the problem with the router? or is just that the devices started acting up coincidentally after changing the router?

Thanks for any help :)

Since I don't know the level of knowledge you have, I'll add this. Setting static IPs on devices can cause just the type of problem you are experiencing. Static IPs are unnecessary for user devices as well. Except for specific networking equipment, for most home networks, devices should get their IPs from DHCP to avoid conflicts. If you need a particular IP on a device, then use your router's settings to reserve specific numbers to assign by MAC address.

So if you want to keep the static IPs, check the router settings to be sure the pool of assigned IPs excludes the static numbers you have used.

Hi, I wrote static IP but I meant what you said. I went to my routers settings and assigned a specific IP within the pool to the MAC Address of a device. So my laptop has an IP ending in 110, the iphone is 107 the android phone is 111 my phone is 104 and so on. Ive assigned these IPs to the devices mac address. Now In the address reservation tab these devices are listed and their IPs in the IP pool are described as Permanent.

Was this correct on my part or no?

Alright so what should I do exactly? My knowledge on networking is pretty limited :p I cant even figure out what Im doing wrong with my extender as every week or so it disconnects from my main wifi.

Extenders are problematic and I don't uses them and have no experience with them. They are only to be used as a last resort. Extenders need to be placed near enough to the router so they have at least a middle strength signal. The user needs to be aware that the wifi from the extender will have greater latency and a much slower throughput. THis may not be a problem for most uses but will figuratively kill your gaming. The disconnection problems may be a sign of the extender being too far from the router. I'd look to solve that problem and see if the others don't get solved at the same time.

For better wifi, the most experienced networking people on this forum recommend using powerline adapters if you can't run an ethernet cable, and I agree with them. Extenders can work but are a distant third in terms of ease of use and reliability.

One more thing, although a long shot, make sure there is only one DHCP service on the network. That is that the DHCP on the extender or any other networking hardware didn't get turned on when you were reworking your wifi to add the router.

Thanks for the reply :) Yeah I did think about that and turned off the DHCP on the extender, also using wifi analyzer i found that the are where I have kept the extender was getting about 70 to 75% signal strength. So is it possible that the extender is defective or no? Also I dont think I'll be able to use a power line adapter as my houses connection is wired in a very weird way, for eg. The closest power line in my room is attached to a fuse box in the garage whereas the room where I normally keep my computer is connected to a fuse box in the kitchen. Each of them is on a separate meter as well.
