Please help me connect to my home WiFi network!

My Machine:
Toshiba Satellite C640 Laptop
Windows 7
Atheros Wireless LAN driver 9.2.0.s3264
Beetel Wifi access point (or router, don't know)

Problem:
It just stopped connecting to my home network suddenly. It connects to my smartphone hotspot just fine.

Detailed symptoms:
I don't know if this will help, but it's like not even trying to connect. the moment i hit connect, it says unable to connect.
also, when i switch off the router (or access point, don't know what it's called) the network remains in the list, and now windows even tries to connect! like it takes some time before saying unable to connect.

Things i tried:
Reinstall WLAN driver,
Switch on-off router
Restart windows
Windows Network Diagnostics

Solution
Hey it just started working!
I had connected through the ethernet cable and I was just finding out how to forget the network, because the option wasn't there in Windows 7. So I entered the command in cmd "netsh wlan show profiles" and it showed me "None", because it must have gotten removed when I reinstalled the WLAN driver. I don't know if that corrected something, but then I tried connecting to the network on Wifi while it was connected to ethernet too, and it worked!

Do you think the problem has gone? Because it came and went when i was using Windows 10!

Possibly a problem with the wifi on the router. Can the phone connect to the router wifi? Can you connect the computer to the router using an ethernet cable?

Some things to try.

Tell windows to forget the network, turn off the wifi encryption and try to connect.
Change the wifi channel on the router from automatic to a fixed number, for 2.4 Ghz choose from among 1, 6, or 11.
Back up the router settings and update the firmware if available. This should be done anyway.
Restore the router's settings to the factory defaults and reprovision it.

Hey thanks for the reply..all other devices connect to the Wifi, and it runs with an ethernet cable also.

I don't know if this will help, but i recently downgraded from Windows 10 because of the same persisting WiFi problem.

And the router doesn't have any settings or buttons at all, just the power button and a WP3 button...it is configured by connecting to a PC, i guess.
