Hey all, My sons computer failed to boot this morning after quite a few years of trouble free running. The mobo is the ASrock z77 extreme 4 and the CPU is I5 3570k. Initially the debug lcd was showing 00. Removed side cover and noticed the cpu heatsink fan was not running. We have replaced the fan as it was siezed and now the debug lcd is showing A2 (IDE Detect) according to the manual.
We have tried resetting the bios etc and pretty much removing everything and starting from scratch but its still showing A2. I appreciate the cpu may have fried due to the fan not running but why A2?
I havent got any spare compatible hardware to check it with so would you suggest replacing the motherboard initially or the CPU?
