I work in a small office that has internet access. I have my laptop in my room that I plug an ethernet cord into for internet. If i were to get my own router and plug the ethernet cord into it so i can use my laptop and ipad/iphone wirelessly could it be possible for someone to hack into the work network? Thanks in advance!

Yes absolutely maybe not security but it can cause other issues. Its called a rouge access point, some companies consider that grounds for termination. It will certainly piss off your network admin at the very least.
