Here is the story, huge thunderstorm hit my city on Sunday and my streets transformer, in my back yard got hit, and it had its top blown off. Literally. Anyways I was playing games on my PC at the time and after the power was restored the internet / Wi-Fi / phone was not working. So my provider stopped by today and replaced everything modem, router, multiple dvrs/pvrs because they we fried. The only thing now, that is unable to connect to the internet is my PC. I checked my device manager and it ways it's working fine and tried uninstalling and re-installing the device (I believe the site called it resetting the port) and still nothing I've tried 2 cords now and different ports and nothing still. I'm afraid someone is going to say my port is pooched and therefore my mobo.

If anyone has an answer or solution or just need more information let me know!

Also in relation to my device manager reset, I rested something called a realtek PCIe GBE family controller. Nothing else is showing up.

My dad says my mobo can't be broken if my PC can start up but I don't believe him.

Thanks in advance a teen with out a PC and exams tomorrow...

I have repaired a number of motherboards where lightning damaged the Ethernet port by adding an Ethernet card in a PCI or PCIe slot, and on each one the only damage was the Ethernet port. Otherwise the PCs worked fine so it is not uncommon.

If the modem and router were damaged by the storm, it is pretty likely that the Ethernet port would also be damaged even if the computer was turned off, as long as it was connected by a cable to the damaged router/modem.

Ok thanks, just saying this also we had two Xbox's and two dvrs connected to this router and both Xbox's don't start and only one dvr won't work. Would this just be a random accurance?
