Hey guys,

First of all I would like to thank anyone that responds to this post please be patient with me I'm new to toms hardware forums and it doesn't play nice with my phone.

Right the problem is my mother board is turning itself on very very randomly sometimes immediately other times can be hours later, I've had it do it immediately 4 times after itself then not doing it again for 6 hours.

IM AT MY WITS END PLEASE HELP ITS WAKING ME UP EVERY NIGHT.

Right enough of my self pity

Solution
One of the computers running Windows 10 was doing that at my house and that is what we did and it cured the problem. Double check the setting any time MS does an update and resets everything to on you need to check such settings.

Right I'm assuming it hasn't posted half of what I written great...

The motherboard is brand new,
It's a ASUS MAXIMUS VIII FORMULA
Z170 socket
I've tried all sorts but rather writing all again I'll just tell people what I have and haven't tried as they ask

Hey turkey,

As far as I am aware lan wake is not enabled however I am not using any lab connection I'm using wifi and I've disabled all this in the Windows options on device manage and then device properties.

The weird thing is it does it with no usb's in no sata connection in but my m.2 ssd in which is c drive... I have tried it once without the m.2 ssd and left it for 6 hours to no joy I will try again tonight overnight when I sleep see if it self powers to with nothing installed other than CPU ram & GPU.

sleep is disabled in power manager and disabled completely,
Hybrid sleep I also disabled

So... does it boot into Windows or not? What Windows OS are you using? 10?

first be cool ...
set asus software to performance on desktop and power savings to never in the ai suite..
change epu settings: to never for moniter and sleep...
there are many settings because this sounds like something simple....
set windows power settings to performance try that.....

I'll try that dude didn't think of Asus ai suite however, it may take while morning to get the results as the restarts are extremely random and sometimes happen immediantly and other hours later and then 6+ hours later in rarer cases...
And just to add it never did this on my previous faulty board which I had for a week before returning and I had everything installed the same and was the same setup except os was installed to one of my Kingston 240gb sata ssd's before I invested in the m.2 (Samsung pro950 which i replaced the ssd to use as current drive) I ordered it to arrive same time on receiving my replacement mobo for that faulty board as 2 of the ram slots was dead on the first one they sent me

Let me guess you are running Windows 10? Turn off the fast start.

Already done this dude,

I've also tested with no usb's inserted to ensure it ain't usb's causing start up, I've tested with all sata connections removed except main m.2 which is in the m.2 slot where Windows is installed.

I have turned all wake on loan settings off in the device manager, well actually I can't turn it off for lab adapter as I don't use and never have on this mobo so it won't let me change the setting but I have disabled wake on wifi or whatever you call it
