I've been reading mixed opinions/ experiences from users regarding this cheap motherboard causing trouble for high end GPU's like the gtx 980 and 970... I asked my vendor and they guaranteed that the system should run fine (provided that I also buy a new PSU, which I am fine with)..,

so will this motherboard really be ok with running the gtx 980 ti provided that I get a sufficient PSU?

My current system is:

i7 4770,
Asus b85M-g
GTX 630 (I had to cheap out on this when I built my PC years ago)
HuntKey 500W PSU (Again, I had to get the cheapest I can get for this years ago)

yes it should be able to handle...no motherboard or for that matter no component is full proof...with the kind of features it has got, it shd be able to handle fine...but u cannot be certain unless u have tried it...nobody can give u a guarantee for that...but if ur mobo is running without hindrances, then a new card wont affect it much...make sure u get a gud psu though for more longevity...
