A month ago my gfx card went bad, so i decided to upgrade my pc. Bought new motherboard, graphics card,Rams to upgrade my old pc a little bit. But now i am having this odd problem.
When I am playing games.. game freezes for 1 minute then starts working fine again...
Now i checked couple of things...
1. GFX overheating:- I have a Gt 710... It generates 60degree celsius heat under heavy stresss or heavy gaming.Which is normal i guess.
2.Ran CHKDSK and S.M.A.R.T check on hard disk more than one time no problems were found.
3.Motherboard is 15 days old. Checked with different RAMs changed sata cables ran memtest86+ no problems was found during memtest.
4.In event viewer i get a Atapi error device id 11 everytime the game hangs.but yet to determine what is causing this.

Solution
The common cause, or causes
Can be down to how you have things set in the bios, and windows os.

Providing you have enough system ram, say 8gb of system memory, a GTX 1080 or 1070 Pci-e graphics card.
And a good CPU such as an I5 or I7, or at least a eight core Amd FX cpu in the system.

For Intel based systems in the bios, turn off Intel speed step.
Set the frequency of the Cpu if over clocking it in any way.
Or leave the cpu at its maximum default clock speed.

Check in the bios for a thermal throttle trigger where when a set temp of the cpu it begins to throttle the core speed of the cpu to keep heat in check. Raise the set numbered value slighly above 60c if set to that value.

For Amd FX cpus disable the cool and quiet option in...
Hello... Typically in days of "old" the atapi drivers were used for "card readers" "CD/DVD players" and those units could be failings in communication, for what ever reason. B /

Got any of these type devices hooked up? to the case? to the MB? inspect them and disconnect for troubleshooting. B /

No saw a solution somewhere that cd/dvd rom could be a problem...so i got everything disconnected. My computer only running on HDD. I don't have any card readers!

Save the changes made in the bios before you exit it.

When windows loads, go to the power options.

Set the power profile to High performance, and apply it.

If you are using any sort of stock cooler that came with a Intel or Amd based cpu. buy an aftermarket cpu cooler something like an Evo 212 cpu air cooler instead.

An Atapi error is usually related to any optical drive you have connected to your system, a Dvd-R-RW drive or a Blu ray drive that can burn multiple formats of disks including Br-R or BR-RW.

The vendor or brand maker may provide a Atapi driver for the device.
Find the brand maker and the model number of the drive and do a google search for a driver for the device.
Or see if there is a bios firmware patch for the drive it`s self that fixes the Atapi error.
